Samsung Exynos 2100 vs Snapdragon 888: Detailed comparison

Samsung Exynos 2100 vs Snapdragon 888: Detailed comparison

After few days when Qualcomm launched their most powerful flagship 5G SoC back in Dec'20, the South Korean giant company Samsung Electronics on 12th Jan'21 launched their in-house flagship 5G processor "Exynos 2100" to compete with Qualcomm's snapdragon 888. In India Samsung's new flagship lineup of smartphones which is the Samsung Galaxy S21 series is powered by the Exynos 2100. With the launch of the Exynos 2100, Samsung pushed itself a step ahead in the race of 5G processors. Exynos 2100 is the most powerful, advanced & premium 5G enabled SoC from Samsung itself claiming a boast of 10% overall performance and will consume 20% less power compared with its predecessor Exynos 990. Exynos 2100 is going toe-to-toe in the arena of flagship processors with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888.

But before we move on don't forget to follow me on  Twitter for all the technical updates and news. With all that said let's take a look at a detailed comparison between the Exynos 2100 & Snapdragon 888.

Samsung Exynos 2100 vs Snapdragon 888

CPU

In the CPU department, both the processors are quite similar. Both the snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 are 8 core processors based on a 5nm process node with the new ARM Cortex-X1 as their prime core. Both processors share the same clusters of CPU cores in the identical arrangement of (1,3 and 4). This comprises one Cortex ARM-X1 core, three Cortex-A78 cores, and four Cortex-A55 cores. The only difference is here in the clock speed at the cores are clocked in both the SoCs. In Exynos 2100 the clock speed of cores in the pattern of (1,3 & 4) is 2.9Ghz, 2.84Ghz, and 2.7GHz respectively, whereas in Snapdragon 888 the values are 2.84Ghz, 2.4Ghz, and 1.8Ghz respectively.  From this is clear is that Exynos 2100 is having an edge here due to its higher clock speed. It means in the department of CPU performance Exynos 2100 will lead.

GPU

The Exynos 2100 boasts "Mali-G78 MP14" for taking care of graphics-related tasks. It is a 14 core GPU this is four more cores when comparing with Exynos 1080. On the other hand, Snapdragon 888 is equipped with "Adreno 660" for graphics-related tasks. If we talk about numbers then, it is clear that Exynos 2100's GPU is having fewer cores than that of snapdragon's 888. More cores results in better performance hence Snapdragon's 888 Adreno 660 is having an edge over the Mali-G78.

AI

For handling AI-related tasks Exynos 2100 is carrying an unnamed triple-core NPU unit capable of delivering a massive 26 TOPS (trillion operations per second), exactly the same which snapdragon's 888 Hexagon 780 which also has the capability of delivering a value of 26 TOPS.

ISP

The ISP in Exynos 2100 can support up to a 200MP rear camera, support 4K video recording at 120FPS, and also can record a video in 8K resolution at 60FPS. Here Exynos 2100 has an upper hand, due to the support of the AV1 decoder for 8K videos. On the other hand ISP of snapdragon 888 Spectra 580 also not far behind. It also supports 200MP cameras and can capture 8K videos at 30FPS(which is lower than Exynos 2100). It can also record 4K HDR recording with Computational HDR.

CONNECTIVITY

For Connectivity purposes both the chipsets consist of an integrated 5G modem. Both modems can support mmWave and Sub-6Ghz spectrums. The Download speed on Exynos 2100 can max out at 5.1 Gbps on the Sub-6Ghz spectrum, and for the mmWave spectrum, it can go up to 7.35 Gbps.

The Exynos 2100 will surely support Wi-Fi 6 technology but it is not clear that it'll support Wi-fi 6e, whereas if we talk about snapdragon 888 it will support both the Wi-Fi technologies.

CONCLUSION

So this is the detailed comparison between Samsung Exynos 2100 vs Snapdragon 888 and there is no doubt that Samsung launched a powerful flagship SoC that can deliver some heavy blows in the arena of flagship SoCs against snapdragon 888. In the area of CPU and ISP, we can say that the Exynos 2100 is having an edge over snapdragon 888. However, in the GPU department, Snapdragon 888 wins.

Well at least on paper there is not so much difference in both the chipsets and we can't see a clear winner here it's more likely a tie here.
For a clearer picture of the winner, we have to wait and should look for a real-world comparison between the devices powered by the two chipsets.

I am eagerly waiting for some practical day-to-day comparison between these two chipsets. Are you too? Let me know in the comment section down below. Also if you have some questions regarding this comparison then let's hang out in the comment section. RAM or Processor: What makes a smartphone fast ?

Hello friends and welcome again to your own tech guide: Techanalysia. So today we are to going to see that, what makes a smartphone fast? Is it RAM or Processor? One can't choose between RAM and Processor while determining a device's performance. RAM or Processor: What makes a smartphone fast? The answer to the above question is, both. RAM and Processor are both responsible for the smooth and lag-free performance of your smartphone. Let's take a look at how these two play an important role in a smartphone. First thing first, the type of rams used in smartphones are DDR RAMs.  In particular, the RAM used in smartphones is technically called LPDDR RAM. This term stands for 'Lower Power Double Data Rate RAM. These LPDDR RAMs are the version of DDR RAMS specially designed for smartphones.  These RAMs are optimized for low power consumption because these RAMs are used inside smartphones which are having a small battery compared to PC/ Laptop in which DDR RAMs are employe

How to Restore Deleted Files from Google Drive

How to Restore Deleted Files from Google Drive   As we all know Google Drive keeps our files (images, videos, documents) in a cloud and you and we as a user can our files at any point in time. But if you deleted any file from Google Drive by mistake, then don’t need to worry. You can recover your file with a few simple steps. And remember you can only recover your deleted file from Google Drive from the 30 days of deletion. Because after deletion of a file from Google Drive it will stay in the Trash/Bin folder for 30 days. After 30 days the file will be permanently deleted and you’ll not be able to recover it again.   And if by any chance you have deleted a file that someone shared with you, then in this case you can’t restore that particular file. You can simply ask the owner of the file to recover it from the Trash/Bin.   And it doesn’t matter if you are recovering your deleted file from your smartphone (Android & iOS) app or from your desktop browser. The steps to
